PRETTY IN POUPONS
I've been crocheting since 2005. I have a deep love of vintage patterns, but often find that they aren't always ideal for modern lifestyles. I want to preserve the heart of vintage style in a way that fits in every day life.
What the hell is a "poupon" anyway?
My father's side of the family is predominantly French Canadian. Growing up, poupon (pronounced 'peu-pun") was what we called knit and crochet slippers. Once I learned to crochet I tried to find a pattern, but searching for "poupun" yielded nothing. Turns out that this is a slang term specific to Eastern Connecticut. Nevertheless, the word poupons still evokes a feeling of cozy, warmth, and most importantly- home.
